TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Private airline Lion Air is planning to build its own airport in Lebak, Banten. The plan was revealed by an a Banten government official to Tempo last August.
The Banten provincial government has also confirmed the information. Banten regional secretary Muhadi, mentioned that the Regent of Lebak has sent a letter, number 050/940-BPMPPT/2014 dated June 27, requesting for Banten governor's recommendation to include an airport construction in the National Strategic Spatial Plan for Lebak Regency.
Banten Spatial Planning Coordination Agency followed up the letter by initiating a discussion on the airport construction plan. "The meeting was held on July 18," Muhadi told Tempo last August.
The plan has also reached the Transportation Ministry. Since early August, Lion Air CEO Rusdi Kirana and General Director Edward Sirait, have visited the Ministry to request support for a railway access to the new airport in Lebak.
