TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Starting today, Garuda Indonesia will be flying its passengers to London. The state airline now officially serves round-trip flights connecting Jakarta and London via Amsterdam.

"We believe the opening of this new route will further encourage economic, business, social, tourism, and culture activities between Indonesia and the UK," Garuda's sales and marketing director Erik Meijersain in an official statement, Monday, September 8.

The service is part of the company's strategy to develop its international flight network, especially to Europe. London became the second European destination served by the flagship carrier after Amsterdam.

Garuda Indonesia opens five flights to London per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. On May 30, 2014, the airline opened a direct flight connecting Jakarta and Amsterdam.
