TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Deputy Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama has suggested Jakarta residents to avoid sheltering at the riverbank or by the railroad. He sent an ultimatum to the Jakarta City Administration to remove those living in the slumdog areas.
Ahok claimed that he forbade no incoming residents, particularly those willing to work in several posts. Instead, he was concerned about the incoming yet unemployed residents, especially those who tend to inhabit illegal and slumdog areas.
In the attempt to clear Jakarta from the slum impression, Ahok said Jakarta City Administration and PT Kereta Api Indonesia are to sweep areas by the railroad. "They will have no place to stay," said Ahok, adding that he is to return the slum residents to their origin towns and ask the people to sign an agreement of not returning to Jakarta.
