TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Louis van Gaal has made an unforgettable debut as Manchester United boss, as the Dutchman helmed United in crushing LA Galaxy. Playing at Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena, the Red Devils crushed the Los Angeles-based club by seven goals.

Tagged only as a pre-season match, United's performance was like heaven and earth, when compared to David Moyes' spell last season. Back in summer 2013, Moyes started his career with a 0-1 defeat by Singha All-Star in Bangkok.

Van Gaal's spell with United also came with his trademarked formation, 5-3-2, pairing three central defenders Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling. Gaal put two aggresive wing backs Luke Shaw and Antonio on the flank, assisting United's flow of attack.

Welbeck, Rooney and and Ashley Young all scored for United, plus young addition to the squad Reece James. Van Gaal also put much expectation on Ander Herrera, who played playmaker role - a post long missing in United squad.
