TEMPO.CO, Gaza - Condition at the Gaza Strip prior to Eid al-Fitr worsens. Rocket attacks from Israel, poverty and unemployment continue to hit the country and virtually shut down all economic activities in the country.
Reuters reported that, as a result of the dying economy, medical staffs working in the region to help conflict victims are yet to receive their salary in the past three months. Even worse, they only received half the salary from the previous four months due to financial crisis. Despite the lack of remuneration, medical staffs remain on standby for 24 hours.
"The meal in the hospital is not great of course, but seeing the condition people are in, you're grateful for what you have," Doctor Mohammed Belami said. Belami said that despite facing the odds of not getting paid for his service, he intends to keep helping the wounded people.
