Bank Dunia: Investasi Indonesia Melambat

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) said that there has been no reports on canceled investment as the presidential election draws closer. "I've met many investors lately and I haven't heard of them withdrawing their investment because of the election," said BKPM chief Mahendra Siregar on Friday, July 4, 2014.

Some companies even decided to go through with their plans to expand their business in Indonesia. One of those companies is currently building a factory for tire materials. "They said they will still develop investment program in the future," he said.

Another company that remaines interested in making an investment in Indonesia is Unilever. According to Mahendra, even though Unilever has not realized their investment plan, the company is still waiting for clarity regarding the status of land, not presidential election.

In the first quarter of 2014, investment that had entered Indonesia reached a total value of Rp106.6 trillion, 14.6 percent higher compared to the same period last year. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2013, investment realization grew by 1.3 percent.
