Bukit Asam Trades Coal in JFX

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – State-owned coal miner Bukit Asam (IDX: PTBA) has offered to sell its coal supply to overseas market through the Jakarta Futures Exchange (JFX), online. Bukit Asam president director, Milawarman, said the company will be selling uncontracted coals or additional stocks.
The company will put up 75,000 metric tons of its coal, consisting of 60,000 tons of coal with a calorific value of 6,450 kilocalories per kilogram and 15,000 metric tons of coal with a calorific value of 6,300 kilocalories per kilogram.
The online auction is scheduled for August 21, 2014, with prospective buyers limited to those registered in the JFX. At the moment JFX has 17 corporate buyers from Taiwan, Japan, China, Malaysia, as well as domestic companies.
JFX president director Sherman R. Krishna said the inclusion of Bukit Asam's coal would be Indonesia's first physical coal contract traded in the JFX. "The entry of coal is expected to establish a coal reference price for next month's delivery," he said.
