Airline ticket prices for the annual homecoming tradition predicted to take place two days before Eid (H-2) have soared way above normal prices. Many of the tickets have even been sold out.
Based on Tempo observation on several low budget airline official websites, the cheapest airline tickets from Jakarta to Yogyakarta for H-2 departure is sold by Lion Air for Rp 958,000 per person, a price double the usual Rp 495,000 per person fare. For Lion Air’s full service airline Batik Air, tickets are sold at Rp 2.26 million per person.
Other low-cost carrier airline AirAsia, sell tickets at Rp 959,745 per person for the economy class, and Rp 1,251,300 for the business class. Whereas, on a regular day, the economy and business class tickets are priced at Rp 490,100 and Rp 836,600 per person, respectively.
