TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - The Indonesian Anti-communist Front (FAKI) has voiced its support towards the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra)’s chief patron and presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto. Dozens of FAKI members arrived at Gerindra chief Suhardi’s residence in Sleman, Yogyakarta to convey their support to Prabowo on Tuesday night, April 22, 2014.

Members and coordinators of FAKI from five regions of Yogyakarta attended the meeting. “We have representatives from Gunungkidul, Bantul, Sleman, Kulon Progo, and Yogyakarta municipality,” said Budi Santoso, the coordinator of FAKI Yogyakarta on the sidelines of the meeting.

Budi said the front would not use the name FAKI in expressing their support to Prabowo and would instead form a new organization dubbed the Supporters of Prabowo for President (MP3).

He added despite the fact that FAKI only grew in Yogyakarta, there were organizations in other provinces bearing the same vision as theirs, including the Anti-communist Front (FAK) in East Java, the Anti-communist Society Alliance in West Java, and the Indonesian Patriot National Movement in Jakarta. Budi said FAKI would coordinate with these organizations.

Suhardi has welcomed FAKI’s support, saying that he was undisturbed by public claims that FAKI was an intolerant and anti-democracy organization. He said the front would not act as FAKI in supporting Prabowo, but as MP3 instead. “They have merged into MP3,” he added.
