TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Police have stated serious commitment to solve the sexual abuse case on a kindergarten student at Jakarta International School (JIS) in South Jakarta. The good faith was stated by Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Dwi Priyatno shortly after he met with the victim’s mother.

H"e has assigned us to focus and for all the perpetrators to be punished," said Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto, yesterday.

Following his order, Rikwanto said their investigators will carry out further investigation on other suspects, opening doors to reports if there were other victims, and even the plan to stage a mini reconstruction in the near future.

To date, the police have established three suspects: Agun, Awan and Afriska. The first two names have admitted their crimes and are detained by the police. Two other suspects, Za and An are still under investigation.

If five of them were proven guilty on the sex abuse, the police will impose Article 82 Regulation Number 23 of 2002 on Child Protection. The perpetrators will be sentenced at the longest for 15 years of imprisonment or a maximum fine of Rp60 million.
