TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Bank Indonesia Deputy Governor Ronald Waas expressed his support towards the state-owned railway company Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) to accommodate transportation of goods to overcome the obstacles caused by poor quality of roads.

He said that BI believed that the system will save time and money in good distribution process.

"We think that KAI has made improvements and they can transport large amount of goods," Ronald stated.

The idea to establish a train-based logistic distribution system was introduced after an assessment conducted by BI revealed that using trucks or cars to distribute goods is financially inefficient. Ronald also said the government has been wasting money to fix roads that are often damaged by heavy trucks.
