Double Track Railway to Sustain 50 Years of Flood

TEMPO.CO, Semarang - The construction of double track railway is designed to be at around 1.2 meters above the ground level, which will protect it from flood for the next 50 years. Chief of Central Java Railroad Development Sutrisno, stated that tne double track railway construction has been adjusted with specific ground condition that may occur during the rain and flood.


Earlier today, the Transportation Ministry has successfully tested the Poncol-Tawang double track railway. The next sections of railway that are going to be constructed is the Weleri-Ujungnegoro section and the Ujungnegoro-Kuripan section with a total length of 35 kilometers.


The new double track railway is expected to improve the efficiency of train travel.
