TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had searched the houses of Palembang Mayor Romi Herton and Regent of Empatlawang Budi Antoni Aljufri. According to KPK spokesman Johan Budi S P, the searches were related to a new allegation against the non-active Chairman of the Constitutional Court Akil Mochtar. "The raids had something to do with the dispute in the regional election," said Johan in his office yesterday.

Johan explained that KPK investigators were not just only raided their private homes, but also their home offices. "We're still waiting for the latest reports, the raids started in the morning," he said.

Akil Mochtar was arrested by KPK on October 2, 2013, on the allegation of bribery case in the Regional Head Elections of Gunung Mas, Central Borneo, and Banten, Lebak Regency. From those two elections, KPK found evidence that lead to a stunning Rp4 billion bribery money for Akil. KPK then suspected that Akil also involved in other briberies as well. In the raids, KPK investigators had found Rp2.7 billion worth of bribery money inside his home office. Recently, KPK had also confirmed that Akil was also allegedly involved in money laundering act.

Deputy Enforcement of KPK, Warih Sadono, stated that the new allegation against Akil is gratification and acceptance of gifts related to Akil's authority as the judge of Constitution. "They are all related to Regional Head Elections, one of them is in Palembang," Sadono confirmed.
