TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) Deputy Governor Mirza Adityaswara expected a consensus between the United States government and the congress on budget discussion which has resulted in the federal shutdown. He expressed his optimism, saying that a deal will occur eventually.

Mirza mentioned that a discussion on debt ceiling addition is crucial, not only for the United States, but also for other countries. Currently, the US debt that is due to October 17 has reached its ceiling of US$16.7 trillion.

Mirza said the US government bonds in the market was around US$12 trillion in the nation and other countries. "Therefore, it is important for both the United States and the world," he added.
