Avoid Black Campaigns, SBY says

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Democratic Party’s Supreme Council, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, has called on presidential candidates of the party’s convention to refrain from black campaigns as political strategies. The president said this during yesterday’s briefing of the party’s presidential convention before the convention’s committee and the candidates.
“In running your campaigns, please avoid black campaigns, avoid odd tactics,” convention committee spokesperson Rully Charis told reporters as he quoted the president at Hotel Sultan on Wednesday, September 11, 2013.
He said President Yudhoyono also asked candidates to avoid employing religious sentiments, making unrealistic promises and promoting certain ideological themes while mastering the issues they planned to shed light on.
“The president asked the candidates to control themselves in speaking and arguing,” Rully said.
Politicians joining the presidential primary so far include Ali Masykur Musa, Anies Baswedan, Dahlan Iskan, Dino Patti Djalal, Endriartono Sutarto, Gita Wirjawan, Hayono Isman, Irman Gusman, Marzuki Alie, Pramono Edhie Wibowo and Sinyo Haris Sarundajang.
