TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono did not want the ministers' participation in the Democratic Party convention disturb their work during the selection for presidential candidates. "The President doesn't want the convention to disturb the ministers' work," said Syarief Hasan, Executive Chief of Democratic Party, on Tuesday, September 10, 2013.
Syarief declined to comment on the ministers' obligation to resign or take a temporary leave from cabinet for joining the convention. He said that the President is the one who has the right to assess ministers' performance as well as to decide the ministers to resign. "Let's just see it later," he said.
Two ministers participate in the Democratic convention process with other 10 political figures. Those ministers are Minister of Trade Gita Wirjawan and Minister of State-owned Enterprises Dahlan Iskan.
