U.S. is ready to reduce its one-third of nuclear possession.

TEMPO.CO, Berlin - U.S. President Barack Obama pledged to reduce the number of nuclear weapon possessed by the country. He made the statement during a speech in front of Bradenburg Gate Berlin on Wednesday, June 19, following a meeting with Russian leaders with the theme of "Peace through Justice".

"As a president I will seek reductions in the US and Russia's tactical weapons while rejecting the nuclear weaponisation that North Korea and Iran may be seeking," Obama said.

The president also called global entities to reduce the manufacturing of materials used in the construction of nuclear weapons.

A Russian senior official responded to Obama’s speech, saying that the US deployment of anti-missile shields was an obstacle to reduce the number of nuclear arsenal of the former Cold War foes. "How can we take the idea of strategic nuclear weapon reductions seriously when the United States is building up its ability to intercept these weapons?" said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
