TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sharif Cicip Sutardjo and Transportation Minister E.E. Mangindaan has inaugurated 51 harbormasters in Jakarta on Friday, May 17, adding up Indonesia's harbormasters to 138 in total.

"The number is close to the 20-percent requirement for harbormaster in fishing ports," said Cicip.

Currently, Indonesia has 816 fishing ports—each port to be directed by one harbormaster. "We need more harbor regulators to fill out the harbormaster positions,”" Cicip added.
