TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo summoned Acting Governor of Central Java Nana Sudjana to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, August 22, 2024. The meeting lasted for about half an hour.
Following the meeting, Nana declined to provide further details about her discussion with the President. The retired police officer said that the purpose of the meeting was to deliver a wedding invitation.
“It was just a matter of a wedding invitation,” Nana claimed, emphasizing that there were no work-related discussions, including regional head elections, during the meeting.
“Nothing, nothing [regarding regional elections]. It was only personal matters,” he added.
Nana, a graduate of the 1988 police academy, has a background in intelligence. His last position was as the Head of the South Sulawesi Regional Police. From November 16, 2020, to February 24, 2021, Nana served as the Coordinator of the Chief of Police's Expert Staff.
President Jokowi's son, Kaesang Pangarep, is anticipated to enter the Central Java gubernatorial election. The chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has received support from the Indonesia Maju Plus Coalition (KIM Plus) to run for the position alongside former Central Java Police Chief Commissioner General Ahmad Luthfi.
“Yes, we will nominate Pak Ahmad Luthfi and Mas Kaesang,” declared Gerindra Party Daily Chair Sufmi Dasco Ahmad on August 19, 2024, at the parliament complex.
