TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) once again presented the international event Makassar International Eight Festival and Forum (F8 Makassar) on July 24 to 28, 2024, at Anjungan Pantai Losari, Makassar, South Sulawesi.
The event is designed to showcase Indonesia's wealth and strength as a form of unity and progress through the organization of eight leading festivals, namely culinary, fashion, music, and film.
Ministerial Expert Staff for Creativity Innovation at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Restog Krisna Kusuma said in a statement received by Indonesia Window on Saturday, July 27, 2024, that this year's F8 event shows the spirit of developing the tourism sector and creative economy in the area hosting the event.
“I hope the Makassar Regional Government can cultivate its tourism and creative economy potential wisely and foster a sense of pride in its people for its natural wealth, traditions and culture to preserve and develop it as well as possible. This is in line with the theme 'Unity' raised by F8 Makassar this year, which is the spirit to show the wealth and strength of the Indonesian nation as a form of unity in diversity towards the Golden Indonesia 2045,” he said.
Meanwhile, Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Danny Pomanto said the F8 event has changed the face of Makassar and proved that the talents of Makassar's children are on par with world-class artists.
“Makassar has changed from a demonstration city to a festival city. Here, all the talents of the children of Makassar, eastern Indonesia, and children (from all over) Indonesia collaborate with artists,” he said.
The 2024 F8 Makassar was attended by eight international participants, namely Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Japan, Australia, Germany, France and India.
The excitement of F8 Makassar 2028 led the event to become one of the Top 10 Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) agendas as a strategic program of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in promoting tourism destinations through events that aim to increase foreign tourist visits and encourage Nusantara tourists to travel in Indonesia.
The organization of F8 Makassar 2024 also involves 200 communities and hundreds of art workers with 300 booth participants.
F8 activities also encourage hotel occupancy targets up to 100 percent and more than Rp300 billion in transactions from various tourism and creative economy sectors.
The implementation of F8 Makassar 2024 is divided into five zones around Anjungan Pantai Losari and Center Point of Indonesia (CPI).
