TEMPO.CO, Makassar - Eleven countries have expressed their readiness to attend and enliven the Eighth International Festival and Forum 2016, better known as F8, at Losari Beach Makassar, South Sulawesi, from September 8 to 19, 2016.

The head of the Promotion Department of Tourism and Creative Economy (Disparekraf) Makassar, Mohammad Roem, said in Makassar on Wednesday that even more countries could attend the event because these eleven nations` confirmation was received last week itself.

The 11 countries are Georgia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Norway, Australia, Switzerland, Peru, Malaysia and Netherlands.

Based on preliminary estimates, he pointed out, up to 30 countries could attend international events.

One needs to wait and hope that more countries will confirm their participation.

The F8, he reminded, will feature a variety of special events, such as film festival, fashion, food, flowers, fine art, folks, fusion jazz, and fiction writing. It is also hoped that all parties, especially the public, will extend full support to the event and will participate enthusiastically to make it a success.

Previously, Makassar Mayor Mohammad Ramdhan Pomanto termed F8 a major platform for Makassar and an international effort to underline the world view of "Kota Daeng." He cited the success of the Asean Mayors Forum (AMF) held in the city.

"Thanks to the AMF, we received the world's attention. Even a news channel as important as the CNN reviewed the activities of the AMF held at Makassar," he added.
