TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - WhatsApp always makes updates to adapt to technological developments. Currently, Meta's application has revised its minimum device requirements so that it impacts users who have old devices.

A report from CanalTech states that as many as 35 smartphone models will stop receiving WhatsApp updates in July 2024, both Android and iPhone. WhatsApp recommends using or updating for devices with Android 5.0 (or later) or iPhone with iOS 12 (or later).

Using outdated WhatsApp will compromise functionality and security. Apart from that, using an old version of WhatsApp also limits access to new features and exposes potential system vulnerabilities, as written in Indiatimes.

The reason WhatsApp cannot be accessed by some of these phones is due to incompatibility of increased technical and software requirements. Only certain smartphones have the performance that WhatsApp needs for the application to function properly. However, if you want to stay safe using WhatsApp, users are advised to update their cellphones.
