7 Private Universities in Yogyakarta with Accreditation of 'A'

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The selection for independent admission of new students for the 2024/2025 academic year at a number of state universities (PTN) in Indonesia has ended.

For high school graduates (SMA) or the equivalent, who want to pursue higher education but have not found the best campus, you can consider enetering private universities (PTS) with an accreditation of A or Superior. One of them is in the Yogyakarta area in Central Java, Indonesia.

Based on the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education Regulations (BAN-PT) Number 1 of 2022 concerning Accreditation Mechanisms for Accreditation Carried Out by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education, accreditation is an assessment activity to determine the suitability of study programs (prodi) and higher education.

Accreditation ratings A, B, and C are obtained using the 7 Standards Accreditation Instrument. Meanwhile, the determination of 'Excellent', 'Very Good' and 'Good' accreditation uses the Study Program Accreditation Instrument (IAPS) 4.0 and the Higher Education Accreditation Instrument (IAPT) 3.0.

List of Private Campuses in Yogyakarta with Accreditation of 'A'

Yogyakarta is known as one of the best education cities in Indonesia. According to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Best Student Cities 2025 which was released on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, Yogyakarta was ranked first in Indonesia and 117th out of 150 cities in the world as the best student city.

The list of private universities in Yogyakarta that received accreditation of 'A' from BAN-PT is as follows:

1. Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD)

UAD achieved a Superior accreditation rating based on the Decree (SK) of the Director of the BAN-PT Executive Board Number 393/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.KP/PT/V/2023. The accreditation status is valid for five years from May 30, 2023 to October 11, 2027.

2. Aisyiyah University (Unisa) Yogyakarta

Unisa Yogyakarta achieved Superior accreditation through the Decree of the Director of the BAN-PT Executive Board Number 8/SK/BAN-PT/Ak/PT/I/2024. This accreditation was obtained after Unisa Yogyakarta received a total score of 369.

3. Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta (UAJY)

UAJY received a Superior accreditation rating as stated in the Decree of the Director of the BAN-PT Executive Board Number 335/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.KP/PT/V/2023. The accreditation is valid from May 10, 2023 to March 28, 2028.

4. Indonesian Islamic University (UII)

UII received a Superior accreditation rating based on the Decree of the Director of the BAN-PT Executive Board Number 2003/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.Ppj/PT/XII/2022. Obtaining accreditation status will be from December 28, 2022 to December 28, 2027.

5. Duta Wacana Christian University (UKDW) Yogyakarta

UKDW Yogyakarta achieved a Superior accreditation rating through the Decree of the Director of the BAN-PT Executive Board Number 992/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.KP/PT/XI/2023. The accreditation decree was signed on November 28, 2023.

6. Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University (UMY)

UMY received a Superior accreditation rating as regulated in the Decree of the Director of the BAN-PT Executive Board Number 2002/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.Ppj/PT/XII/2022. The accreditation certificate is valid from December 28, 2022 to December 28, 2027.

7. Sanata Dharma University (USD)

USD obtained Superior accreditation through the Decree of the Director of the BAN-PT Executive Board Number 614/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.KP/PT/IX/2023. The accreditation certificate is valid from September 12, 2023 to December 21, 2026.
