TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police arrested a Chinese citizen with the initials SZ for fraud and human trafficking against 800 Indonesian citizens.

Head of the Information Bureau and Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General Police Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, explained that on Thursday, June 27, 2024, Interpol NCB of Abu Dhabi handed SZ over to the National Police.

“We fetched the suspect, SZ, in the Middle East. His case is fraud or online scam and human trafficking," said Trunoyudo, as quoted on the National Police Public Relations Division website on Friday, June 28, 2024.

This arrest was carried out through collaboration between the National Police's International Relations Division and the Interpol of Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, SZ arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 01:30 p.m. local time.

Trunoyudo revealed that several other suspects had been previously arrested.

SZ is suspected of having deceived as many as 800 victims, all of whom were Indonesian citizens. The police have not detailed the alleged fraud and human trafficking case.

The police criminal investigation agency said the suspect SZ has a prominent role in the human trafficking case.

"SZ is currently undergoing further probing," said Trunoyudo.
