TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto discussed various potential economic cooperations with Australian Business Ambassador to Indonesia Jennifer Westacott, focusing on increasing the capacity of Indonesia's human resources (HR) to develop the semiconductor industry.

"Indonesia is open to bilateral cooperation, especially in preparing human resources for the semiconductor industry," said Airlangga Hartarto in a statement on Thursday.

This plan is expected to be part of the Technical and Further Education (TAFE) or vocational education support from the Australian government.

Hartarto mentioned that they also discussed various opportunities for collaboration in the energy and mineral sectors, including the development of Carbon Capture Storage (CCS), energy transition and transmission processes, environmentally friendly mining practices, green coal technology, and blue ammonia.

Additionally, they explored the potential for cooperation in the informatics, agriculture, education, and health sectors.

Airlangga expressed the Indonesian government's commitment to finalizing regulations regarding CCS to encourage more intensive cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized the importance of sustaining various "low-hanging fruit" cooperation commitments, such as those related to dairy and processed products and poultry.

He also hopes that the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Australia will continue to support the new government's transition in October.

Meanwhile, Westacott welcomed the potential collaborations and offered joint ventures in the semiconductor industry, particularly in the packaging sector.

"This visit aims to discuss various potential cooperations between Indonesia and Australia, including in the agriculture, education, energy transition, and health sectors," she said.
