TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - WABetaInfo, a website known for tracking WhatsApp updates, reported that the popular messaging app is working on three exciting new features for video calls: filters, backgrounds, and effects.
These features have been spotted in the beta version of WhatsApp (2.24.13.14) but are currently not available for testing. Besides, WhatsApp has not yet announced an official launch date.
The screenshots from WABetaInfo reveal a revamped video call interface with three new tabs at the bottom: Filters, Backgrounds, and Effects.
The Filters tab offers beauty-enhancing options like skin softening, blemish correction, and fine line reduction. Additionally, a low-light mode promises improved video quality in poor lighting conditions.
The Backgrounds tab caters to online meetings by providing a selection of virtual backgrounds, ranging from scenic landscapes to professional office settings, along with a blur option to obscure the actual surroundings.
Finally, the Effects tab might introduce exciting augmented reality (AR) features similar to those found on Instagram and Snapchat. The Effects tab will likely offer a range of options, such as party hats and virtual mustaches.
The report also suggests that WhatsApp may be exploring additional features that allow users to appear anonymous and protect their privacy during video calls by using avatars.
