BMKG Issues Thunderstorm Warning for Greater Jakarta Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a thunderstorm warning for Greater Jakarta or Jabodetabek today, May 22.
Forecasters warned of heavy rain with lightning and strong winds in South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and West Jakarta in the afternoon and evening. Cloudy skies are expected to shroud the capital, with light rain in some areas this afternoon and evening.
The highest daily air temperature in Jakarta will be 31 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level of 95 percent.
An early weather warning was also issued for parts of Bogor Regency, Bogor City, Depok City, Bekasi Regency, and Bekasi City. Forecasters reported the potential for local-scale rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds for a relatively short duration between the afternoon and evening.
The air temperature across the capital city’s neighbors was estimated to be as high as 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity as high as 95 percent.
Additionally, the same early warning is applied to the west to south sides of Jakarta, including South Tangerang City and southern parts of Tangerang Regency today.
For this Greater Tangerang area, the BMKG said that the maximum air temperature could reach 32 degrees Celsius with a humidity level of up to 95 percent.
