Indonesian Man Walked Four Hours to Escape Kidnappers in the Philippines

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Teddy Sufendy, a 28-year-old Indonesian man, was found Monday morning, May 13, in Silang town, Cavite province, Philippines. According to police, Teddy had escaped from kidnappers.
The Philippines' Region 4A police said in a report that village officials found Teddy at around 7:30 a.m. in front of an evangelical church in Barangay Malabag.
Citing information from Sufendy, the police said the kidnappers, who have yet to be found, abducted him in Makati City on May 4.
Blindfolded and handcuffed, the abductors took Teddy and held him somewhere in Tagaytay City. Teddy said his captors took his personal belongings, including his ID cards and money, P5,000 cash or about Rp1.4 million.
Teddy managed to escape on Monday morning and walked for four hours before he was found in Malabag. The report did not give details on how he escaped.
Police said Sufendy, a resident of Makati City, is an employee of a Philippine offshore gambling operation in the city. Police are conducting further investigations.
