TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The national airline Garuda Indonesia will start operating a new flight route of Manado – Denpasar, Bali roundtrip via Makassar on May 3, 2024.

Director of PT Garuda Indonesia, Irfaniaputra, said the new route is intended to strengthen national tourism growth by expanding the flight network to various leading domestic tourism destinations.

"The prices start from Rp2.1 million," said Irfan in a written statement on Monday.

This flight route will be operated twice a week on Friday and Sunday, on a Boeing 737-800 NG fleet with 12 business class seats and 150 economy class seats.

The Manado - Denpasar flight route via Makassar will be served by flight number GA688 and is slated to depart from Sam Ratulangi International Airport at 07:10 a.m. WITA (Central Indonesian Time) and arrive at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport at 11:20 a.m. WITA.

Meanwhile, the Denpasar – Manado flight via Makassar will be operated with flight number GA620 which is scheduled to depart from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport at 12:10 p.m. WITA and arrive at Sam Ratulangi International Airport at 17:25 p.m. WITA.

Irfan said Garuda Indonesia operates the route as a sustainable initiative to support the national economic recovery program post-pandemic, especially through the tourism sector in North Sulawesi.

"We are carrying out this sustainable initiative in order to support the economic growth of North Sulawesi, which also has Super Priority Destinations (DSP) Likupang," he explained.

According to him, apart from Likupang, the airline opens a flight route from Bali due to its world-class popularity as a tourism destination. Garuda Indonesia aims to bring foreign tourists to North Sulawesi and South Sulawesi as the flight is operated through Makassar.

Garuda Indonesia will collaborate with Diamond & Co through the Element of Surprise program by distributing merchandise to all passengers. Additionally, lucky passengers on this flight also have the opportunity to win a piece of Diamond Jewelry through a raffle on the plane.
