TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Constitutional Court or MK dismissed presidential candidate pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar's argument regarding President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi's alleged interference in the nomination of his eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, in the 2024 presidential election as Prabowo Subianto's running mate.

Constitutional Court Judge Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh stated that the plaintiff could not further prove the claim that Jokowi supported one of the candidate pairs to replace him, the incumbent president, following the failure to extend the presidential term to three terms.

“Similarly, the argument that the President meddling with the 2024 general election could not be further explained by the applicant, such as the meaning and impacts, as well as the evidence of such actions,” Daniel said in a hearing at the Constitutional Court Building, Central Jakarta on Monday, April 22.

Although various pieces of evidence were presented by the plaintiff, including articles and video recordings of news from the mass media, such statements lacked strong evidence and could not simply be interpreted as a desire to interfere in the administration of the Presidential Election.

Apart from that, the Constitutional Court has found no evidence of a correlation between the President's interference in question and Prabowo-Gibran's potential vote acquisition. Thus, the Court finds the Petitioner's argument legally groundless.

The Constitutional Court is currently holding the final hearing in the presidential election dispute. The dispute over the election results of the general or PHPU Presidential Election has been ongoing since the end of last month.

Anies Baswedan, Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo, and Mahfud Md. attended the hearing directly at the MK Building on Jalan Merdeka Barat. The General Elections Commission (KPU) chairman Hasyim Asy'ari and the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) chairman Rahmat Bagja were also present in person. Meanwhile, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who were the related parties, were not present and were represented by their legal team.
