TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto asked his supporters to cancel the planned protest at the Constitutional Court (MK) Building on Friday, April 19, 2024. Prabowo said the cancellation was aimed at maintaining unity and harmony.

"I, Prabowo Subianto, sincerely ask all Indonesian people, especially the 96.2 million Indonesian people who voted for Prabowo-Gibran, not to stage any action in front of the Constitutional Court Building or other places," said Prabowo in a video statement, Thursday evening.

Prabowo reminded his supporters not to be provoked by fraud accusations thrown at the running pair, no matter how cruel these allegations are.

According to the current Defense Minister in Jokowi's cabinet, accusations of fraud using social assistance or law enforcement officers are baseless. On the other hand, Prabowo assessed that his victory with President Jokowi's eldest son was due to the hard work of various parties.

He revealed that 58 percent of Prabowo-Gibran voters felt disturbed by these accusations. "I have repeatedly reminded us that Indonesia will achieve its ideals through harmony, a sense of unity, and wisdom between its people,” he said.

It was previously reported that around 100,000 supporters of Prabowo-Gibran will reportedly stage a protest at the Constitutional Court or MK Building on Friday, April 19, 2024. Commander of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team volunteer department Haris Rusli Mouti said this protest is a response to various accusations, insults, and harassment to the voters of the running pair.

"As if 96.2 million people voted for Prabowo-Gibran because they were bribed with social assistance," he said in Jakarta, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

The plan for a protest was raised after the Constitutional Court was flooded with submissions of Amicus Curiae or “friends of the court”. MK Spokesperson Fajar Laksono said the court received over 21 submissions of amicus Curiae, including those from PDIP Head Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"I believe this is the largest number of Amicus Curiae," said Fajar Laksono when met at the MK Building on Wednesday. Suspecting that the number will increase, Fajar added, "This shows that at least the public is paying attention to what the MK will decide." The submissions were received by the Constitutional Court in person, through e-mails, and letters.
