TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Applying for a visa can be a very stressful process, especially considering how weak the Indonesian passport is. Many applicants have faced rejection for various reasons. If you are planning to travel overseas, understanding certain common mistakes can help avoid visa rejection and increase your chances of a successful visa application.

According to the Times of India, there are six common reasons why most visas are rejected:

1. Incomplete application

One of the most common reasons for visa denial is an incomplete application. This can include missing documents, unanswered questions, or failure to provide the required information. It's important to carefully read and follow the visa application instructions to ensure that all required documents and information are included.

2. Rule violations

Visa denials often occur when applicants fail to comply with the rules and regulations established by the immigration authorities. This may include providing false information, attempting to game the system, or violating visa regulations. Inconsistencies in your application can result in immediate denial.

3. Incomplete travel details

Inadequate travel details, such as vague itineraries or unclear plans, can raise red flags during the visa application process. Immigration officers need to know where you'll be staying, how long you'll be in the country, and what activities you plan to do. Providing detailed and accurate itineraries can help show the purpose of your visit thus increasing chances of approval.

4. Unknown purpose for travel

Failure to articulate the purpose of your travel is another common reason for visa denial. Whether your visit is for tourism, business, education, or family, it's important to provide compelling reasons and supporting documentation to justify your trip. Ambiguity or lack of clarity about your intentions can lead officials to doubt your credibility, which may result in a visa denial.

5. Passport issues

Problems with your passport, such as expiration, damage, or lack of blank pages, may also result in visa denial. Make sure your passport meets all the requirements of the immigration authorities. This includes being valid for the duration of your intended stay and having at least two blank pages for visa stamps.

6. Insufficient funds

Failure to show or provide evidence of sufficient funds to support your travel could cause problems. Immigration officials want assurance that you have the means to cover your expenses and will not overstay or engage in unauthorized employment. Provide bank statements, proof of income, or letters of sponsorship to demonstrate your financial stability and increase your chances of visa approval.
