TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto emphasized the need to step up bilateral collaboration, including in defense, during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

According to a statement from his office, during the meeting, Prabowo underlined the need for Indonesia and Japan to continue to enhance multi-sectoral bilateral partnerships.

2. Bocimi Toll Road Landslide; Ministry Says Permanent Handling Will Start after Eid Holidays

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A landslide occurred on the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi or Bocimi toll road section on Wednesday night, April 3, reportedly due to heavy rains. The Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said it had made efforts to carry out temporary repairs. Meanwhile, more permanent repairs will begin after the Eid holidays.

"Based on discussions with the Director General of Highways last night, efforts are currently being made on the ground for temporary repairs," said Tulus Abadi, member of the Community Element of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) on Thursday, April 4.

3. Indonesia Ranks Third as Vietnam's Fastest Growing Tourism Market

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian tourists vacationing in Vietnam in 2024 are growing rapidly. In the first quarter of this year, the number of Indonesian tourists in Vietnam increased by 188 percent compared to the period before the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to official Vietnamese government data quoted by VN Express, the number of visitors from the country in the first quarter increased by 335 percent, followed by India by 304 percent. Indonesian tourists came in third. Taiwan was next at 145 percent and Laos at 125 percent.
