TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Constitutional Court (MK) stated that the verdict on the election dispute (PHPU) will be announced next month, in strict compliance with the court’s regulation No. 1 of 2024.
“The decision will be [made public] on April 22, 2024,” the court’s spokesperson Fajar Laksono said at the court’s building in Central Jakarta on Thursday, March 21.
Registration for the presidential election dispute at the Constitutional Court is open for three days, or until March 23, after the General Elections Commission (KPU) declared on March 20, the election results, announcing candidate number 02 Prabowo-Gibran Rakabuming as the winner of the election.
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court has a maximum period of 14 days—from the time the application is noted in the Electronic Constitutional Case Registration Book (e-BPRK)—to conclude the case application.
Fajar also confirmed that the Constitutional Court will kick off the hearing of the election dispute case on March 27. “March 25 will be the registration date, March 26 will be the notification of the trial dates, and the hearing will start on March 27 until the decision is made on April 22,” he explained.
Today, March 21, the campaign team of presidential candidate number 01 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN) challenged the election results at the Constitutional Court, demanding a re-election.
Candidate pair number 03 Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud Md. also planned to file a lawsuit to challenge the presidential election results at the Constitutional Court. However, they have not yet announced the exact time for filing the case.
