TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director of Air Transport at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation, Putu Eka Cahyadi, stated that the recovery in the aviation sector post the COVID-19 pandemic has reached 83 percent. He is optimistic that the aviation sector will recover 100 percent by 2024.

"This year is the moment to fully recover," he said on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in the discussion held by the Transportation Journalists Forum (Forwahub) in Jakarta.

Angkasa Pura Group also attended the event. As an airport management company, PT Angkasa Pura I targets service achievements for 78 million passengers in 2024. The target is a 15 percent increase from the previous year with 69 million passengers.

Director of Operations of PT Angkasa Pura I, Wahyudi, stated that his company would strive for this target by revitalizing ten airports. "Finally in 2023, we have completed 10 developments, including for airport construction or beautification of existing airports," he said. Of the ten airports on the revitalization list, he said, only one airport remains unfinished.

The Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Angkasa Pura II, Cin Asmoro, stated that its management targets services for 91.8 million passengers this year. Throughout 2023, Angkasa Pura II has served 80.2 million passengers from 20 airports.

"This target reflects a recovery rate of more than 100 percent from the [before] COVID-19 condition in 2019 of around 90.7 million," he said.
