TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police has questioned 15 witnesses regarding the alleged sexual harassment of the inactive chancellor of Pancasila University, Edie Toet Hendratmo. Edie, 72, was reported to the police under Article 6 of Law 12 of 2022 on the Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence (TPKS).

Sr. Comr. Ade Ary Syam Indradi, head of public relations at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, said the 15 witnesses came from two separate reports filed by two women, RZ and DF.

"For the progress of the investigation on the report filed by DF, six people were questioned, consisting of the reporter or victim, the accused and four witnesses," Ade said in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 5.

As for the allegation reported by RZ, he said, nine people have been questioned, the reporter or victim, the accused, and seven witnesses.

Investigators will also take statements from Edie's secretary. For further investigation, the police have contacted the Jakarta Provincial Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service (P3A) for a psychological examination and a team of doctors from the National Police for a psychiatric examination.

Ade Ary said the two cases were still being investigated by the Jakarta Metro Police's Sub-Directorate for Youth, Children and Women of the Directorate General of Criminal Investigation (Subdit Renakta Ditreskrimum).

Edie Toet was reported to the police for allegedly sexually harassing two of his employees. The first report was filed by RZ (42) to the Jakarta Metro Police on January 12, 2024. The second report was filed by DF with the National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) on January 29, 2024.

Initially, the two reports were handled separately. On Feb. 27, Ade Ary said, both reports were delegated to the Jakarta Metro Police's Sub-Directorate for Youth, Children and Women of the Directorate General of Criminal Investigation (Subdit Renakta Ditreskrimum) for faster processing.
