TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo denied receiving gratification up to Rp100 billion, responding to the Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) report to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday.

“I have never received the supposed gratification,” Ganjar told Tempo when confirmed via WhatsApp, the text messaging app on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

Ganjar-Mahfud National Winning Team spokesperson Chico Hakim said on Tuesday that the report by IPW Chairman Sugeng Teguh Santoso was intended to “push a political movement” and had political intent.

Earlier IPW reported Ganjar Pranowo to KPK with one other person, the Director of BPD Central Java with initial S. Ganjar was accused of receiving a cashback from an insurance company, amounting to Rp100 billion.

“IPW reported a gratification and/or bribery through cashback of several insurance companies to S and Ganjar Pranowo as the shareholders of the Bank Jateng from 2014 to 2023,” he said.

Sugeng explained that the insurance company provides credit guarantee coverage to Bank Jateng creditors which is understood as a refund.

Bank Jateng controls cashback from insurance companies amounting to 16 percent of the premium value. The 16 percent value is then allegedly allocated to three parties.

"Five percent for Bank Jateng operations, both central and regional, 5.5 percent for Bank Jateng shareholders consisting of local governments or regional heads, of which 5.5 percent is given to the controlling shareholder of Bank Jateng which is allegedly the Governor of Central Java with the initials GP," he explained.

The head of the news department of KPK Ali Fikri confirmed the report. “We will follow up on the report with an initial verification step by KPK’s public complaint department,” Ali concluded.
