TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Elections Commission or KPU Jakarta, confirmed the death of two election organizing group (KPPS) officers in North Jakarta and Central Jakarta. Member of the Socialization, Community Education, and Voter Participation Division at KPU Jakarta, Astri Megatari, revealed that the two KPPS officers died respectively on Wednesday evening, February 14, and Thursday morning, February 15.

"According to information, the KPPS officer in North Jakarta died on the evening of February 14, while the one in Central Jakarta, passed away in the morning of February 15," Astri told Tempo via short message on Friday.

Regarding their cause of death, Astri explained that one was due to “illness and fatigue, and the other due to a single accident caused by driving exhaustedly”.

Astri urged members of the District Election Committee (PPK) and Voting Committee (PPS) to take notes of respective health conditions while arranging recapitulation schedules. "Since we are now entering the sub-district recapitulation stage," said the KPU Jakarta commissioner to prevent similar incidents.

Astri said that KPU Jakarta had cooperated with the Jakarta health office to provide medical officers at community health centers and one ambulance in each sub-district. "Shortly we will also supply them with vitamins," she concluded.
