TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has cast his vote in the 2024 general elections this morning, Feb. 14, in Gambir, Central Jakarta. He mentioned that cases of election fraud are addressed in the regulation.

“If there is fraud, you can report it to Bawaslu. If that is not enough, you can file a lawsuit at the Constitutional Court,” he said after voting.

The 2024 general elections, including legislative and presidential elections, take place today, Feb. 14. A week before the election, civil groups and academics raised concerns about the President’s alleged ethical violations and abuse of power. The criticism intensified as the documentary film Dirty Vote was released on February 11, 2024, during the cooling-off period.

Responding to the allegation, Jokowi emphasized that all parties must adhere to the applicable rules and regulations.

In a separate statement on Feb. 13, the State Palace proclaimed that such allegations must be verified with factual evidence to avoid any misleading narratives.

Ari Dwipayana, the Presidential Special Staff Coordinator, said that during the three-day cooling-off period, voters should consolidate what they have heard, seen, and felt during the campaign period to make an informed decision.

“The people are the sovereign owners of the vote. Hence, it is our collective responsibility to oversee the voting process tomorrow (Feb. 14) and make it a party of democracy,” Ari said on February 13.
