TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) commented on the Rp38.47 billion in funds belonging to PT Bumiputera Sekuritas (BPS) customers that is still being held by Bank Victoria Syariah (BVIS). OJK's chief executive of Banking Supervision, Dian Ediana Rae, said that the regulator continues to monitor the process of resolving the case.

"Regarding the alleged misuse of customer funds, OJK is still monitoring the progress of resolving the problem in question," Dian told Tempo on January 24.

In principle, Dian said, the bank is committed to resolving the case in accordance with POJK No.22/2023 on Consumer and Community Protection in the Financial Services Sector.

Yesterday, PT Bumiputera Sekuritas' attorney, David M.L. Tobing, urged the OJK to order Bank Victoria Syariah to return the funds. "To this date, these funds are still being held by Bank Victoria Syariah," David said when contacted on Tuesday, January 23.

David said that for almost 10 months his client has been complaining to the OJK and the Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim), to no avail. "The OJK should have summoned us and also summoned Bank Victoria to be questioned, but so far there has been nothing," he said.

He felt as if OJK is ignoring the case. After reporting to the OJK and Bareskrim, David said that his client was told that they can withdraw Rp17 billion, on the condition that they will not dispute the rest.

"What I see is customers who are being harmed are blackmailed or coerced into just taking the amount of money they decided," David said.
