TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government decided to disburse a budget of Rp4.8 trillion for the Pre-Employment Card program in 2024. The government also increased the target number of participants by more than one million.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto delivered the news on the sidelines of the briefing event for the Job Creation Committee and the Pre-Employment Card Program Team in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, January 23.

“This year's Pre-Employment Card Program is expected to train 1.2 million people,” Airlangga said on Tuesday.

He explained that by the end of 2024, the government aims to have about 19 million people participate in pre-employment training. So far, more than 17 million people have joined the program.

“In the past two years, the Pre-Employment Card program has provided training for Indonesian people that can be accessed in 514 districts/cities,” Airlangga informed.

He went on to say that the training would focus on upstream sectors that are quite popular and the digital sector. “While not forgetting the day-to-day sectors, such as the mining sector, which needs heavy equipment truck drivers and others,” he explained.

Airlangga concluded that the government would balance training needs in the digital and real sectors, including the tourism sector which is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
