TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bekasi City Government denied allegations that it intervened in the removal of the videotron containing advertisements of Anies Baswedan at Grand Metropolitan Mall, Bekasi.

“There's no [intervention from the city government],” Head of the Bekasi City Communications, Informatics, Statistics, and Cryptography Agency (Diskominfostandi), Hudi Wijayanto, said on Tuesday, January 16.

Hudi explained that the videotron in the shopping mall area belonged to a private company, so the city administration was not involved in the agreement of the digital advertisements. The regional government’s authority is limited to its taxation.

The LED videotron displaying the presidential candidate number 1 in a K-Pop data-style created by K-poppers was in place in less than 24 hours, faster than agreed. The videotron in front of Graha Mandiri, Menteng, Central Jakarta was also removed. This was conveyed by the Olppaemi Project, Anies’ fan base, on their social media account X @olppproject.

“The LED ads scheduled to be broadcast for one week (January 15-21, 2024) in Bekasi and Jakarta cannot continue due to something beyond our control,” the Olppaemi Project announced on Monday, January 15.

The initiator of the Olppaemi Project, Dyno (a stage name) claimed that there was no clear reason why the videotrons in Jakarta and Bekasi were taken down. “[A videotron planned for] Medan will be up as planned if there are no obstacles,” Dyno said on Monday, January 15.

Tempo observed that the medium-sized LED videotron in Grand Metropolitan Mall, Bekasi, remained in operation, showing promotional videos of some products and private companies.
