TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) departed for Indonesia on Sunday after attending several events in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, since Saturday (January 13).
The Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta informed us that President Jokowi took off for Indonesia on an Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft at around 1 p.m. local time via Brunei Airport.
The Minister of Defense II of Brunei Darussalam, Pehin Halbi bin Mohd. Yussof, was present to see the president off.
In addition, the Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Achmad Ubaedillah, and the Indonesian Defense Attaché in Bandar Seri Begawan, Colonel Doddy Suhadiman, were also present at the airport to see President Jokowi off.
Accompanying President Jokowi on the flight to Indonesia were Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir, Chief of Presidential Staff Moeldoko, and a member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Gandi Sulistiyanto.
In Bandar Seri Begawan, the president attended several events, among others, the wedding reception of Prince Abdul Mateen, son of the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah, and Anisha Rosnah at Istana Nurul Iman on Sunday.
According to RTB News, several other state leaders who also attended the wedding reception are Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysian King Sultan Abdullah, and King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
Other leaders who also attended the wedding reception were Singapore's Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, and the President of the Philippines, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
Meanwhile, during his first day in Brunei Darussalam on Saturday, President Jokowi attended a meeting with the consortium of investors in Brunei Darussalam to convey the investment opportunities in Indonesia's new capital city Nusantara (IKN = Ibu Kota Nusantara).
The president also visited Mall Gadong, Bandar Seri Begawan, to greet the mall's visitors, especially Indonesian citizens in Brunei.
