TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Maybe you often hear the term Konoha on social media or television. This term often becomes trending on Twitter. In other cases, many Indonesian netizens use the word Konoha to refer to the State of Indonesia or comment on the strange behavior of its citizens until now. So, what is the connection between Konoha and Indonesia?

Konoha is a fictional village in the anime series Naruto Shippuden which is said to be similar to Indonesia. This is because the two countries have many similarities. Starting from the diversity of the society to the similarity in the number of leaders. This is what then made many netizens agree to call Indonesia the Konoha Country.

The similarities between Indonesia and Konoha

One of the reasons why Indonesia is called the Konoha Country is because of the similarities between its leaders. In the Naruto series, Konoha has 7 leaders called Hokage (leaders of Konoha). This was later linked to the several presidents who led Indonesia.

Leaders of Konoha and Indonesia

Indonesia's first president, Soekarno, was said to be similar to Konoha's first Hokage, Hashirama. Both of them were founders of the country and had a firm nature. Then Suharto, as the second president, was considered to have similarities with Tobirama Senju, Konoha's second Hokage. This is because both of them have helped the first leader in forming the country.

Apart from that, Indonesia and Konoha have both been led by people with above average intelligence. They are B.J Habibie and Hiruzen Sarutobi. Meanwhile, K.H Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur has similarities with Minato Namikaze because he gave up his position to maintain peace in their respective countries.

The next similarity between Indonesia and Konoha is in the fifth president. As is known, Megawati Soekarnoputri is the daughter of Indonesia's first president, Soekarno. Meanwhile, Konoha's fifth Hokage is Tsunade who is the granddaughter of the first Hokage, Hashirama Senju. Apart from that, both of them were also the first presidents in their respective regions.

Not only that, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono also has similarities with Kakashi Hatake as the sixth leader of Konoha. The reason is, both of them come from the military environment. Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo is considered to have similarities with Naruto Uzumaki because he has the same goal, namely creating peace in other countries.

Make Peace with Opponents

Apart from the number of leaders and some of the same backgrounds, the way they manage and defend the country also has little in common. Especially during the reign of the seventh leader.

This can be seen from leaders who make peace with their opponents. They even entrusted the field of state security to be led by someone who was once their opponent.

In Indonesia, President Joko Widodo appointed Prabowo Subianto, previously his rival in the elections, as Minister of Defense. Meanwhile in the country of Konoha, Naruto entrusts Sasuke, his rival when he was a ninja, as head of security in Konoha.

Have a Large Influential Group

Indonesia has various regional tribes spread from Sabang to Merauke. Starting from the Batak, Sundanese, Javanese, Betawi, Minang, Bugis, and so on. This is also similar to Konoha which has many united Ninja Clans, such as the Hyuga, Senju, Uchiha, Yamanaka, Akimichi, Nara, and other clans.

Not only that, it turns out that Indonesia and Konoha also have large, influential groups within their countries. Indonesia used to have a PKI group that had great influence and was a threat to the country. At that time, this group was not liked by Suharto as Indonesia's second president.

In the country of Konoha, there is a group called the Uchiha Clan which has power and influence in Konoha. This group was also hated by Konoha's second Hokage, Tobirama Senju.

Jokowi, Hokage and Konoha Village

In Tempo's notes, in 2017, President Joko Widodo or Jokowi once expressed his praise for the explanation of a santri named Yadian about the Hokage or leader of Konoha village. Yadian is a student at the Al-Khoirot Islamic Boarding School in Malang, East Java.

"Thank you handsome Yadian for the video he sent for #JokowiMenjawab. Now I understand what Hokage and Konoha are," wrote Jokowi via his official YouTube account called President Joko Widodo, Sunday, May 7, 2017.

Jokowi also responded to Yadian's hopes by writing, "Am I able to make our country like Konoha under the leadership of Uzumaki Naruto who is serene, peaceful, pious and disciplined? I answer God willing. With Allah's permission and the hard work of all of us, we will definitely be able to."

On the other hand, Japan, as the country that makes the Naruto anime, also has a tourist spot called Konoha Village. This village is located in Nijigen no Mori Theme Park, Hyogo Prefecture.

This 8,000 square meter park was opened on April 20, 2019. It is more than 4 hours by train and 7 hours by car from Tokyo.

To enter the Naruto & Boruto Shinoi Zato area, you must pay a ticket. For adults 3,300 Yen (Rp416,000), teenagers 1,800 Yen (Rp227,000), children 5-10 years 500 Yen (Rp63,000) and free for children under 4 years old. Children under 2 years of age are not allowed to enter here. The ride is open from 10:00-22:00 local time.
