TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - More areas of Jakarta are flooded this afternoon, Thursday, Nov. 30, following moderate to heavy rainfall from Wednesday night to this morning.
The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) recorded that as of 11 a.m., at least 69 neighborhoods or RT had been inundated by floodwaters, or 0.22 percent of the total 30,772 RT across the capital, up from initially 45 RT.
“BPBD Jakarta calls on the public to remain careful and alert to the possibility of flooding,” the agency’s head Isnawa Adji said in a written statement, on Thursday, Nov. 30.
He attributed the flooding to downpours that led the Ciliwung River to overflow. In South Jakarta, the affected areas include Pondok Pinang (1 RT) with about 30 centimeters of floodwater, Pejanten Timur Village (6 RT) with 80-160 centimeters of floodwater, and Rawajati Village (12 RT) with 70 centimeters of floodwater.
Meanwhile, in East Jakarta, the affected areas are Balekambang, Cawang (9 RT), Cililitan (9 RT), Bidara Cina (7 RT), and Kampung Melayu (23 RT). Flood levels ranged from 30 to 245 centimeters.
Isnawa also said that floodwaters had receded in five RT in Cawang and Kramat Jati and that a resident of Bidara Cina had been evacuated to the SKKT building at RW 11.
“BPBD Jakarta is deploying personnel to monitor the situation in each area and in coordination with the Water Resources Agency (SDA), the Bina Marga Agency, and the Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat),” he added.
Isnawa said he was coordinating with the district heads in the flooded areas. “In case of emergency, call 112 immediately. This service is free and operates 24 hours non-stop.”
