Heavy Rainfall to Soak Parts of Greater Jakarta, BMKG Reports

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Parts of Greater Jakarta or Jabodetabek are poised for moderate to heavy rainfall today, Nov. 22. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released the early warning.

Rain with lightning and strong winds is possible in some areas of Bogor Regency, Bogor City, Depok City, Bekasi Regency, and Bekasi City.

In Bekasi, drizzle is expected to fall throughout the day, changing to moderate rain in the early hours of Friday. Elsewhere, partly cloudy skies will prevail, followed by light rain later in the day.

Tangerang City, Serang of Tangerang Regency, and Serpong of South Tangerang City will have partly cloudy skies in the morning, with light drizzle expected in Serang in the afternoon. The other two regions will have cloudy weather and thick clouds.

In Greater Tangerang areas, the night will be cloudy, except for South Tangerang, which may be drenched by heavy rains with lightning and strong winds.

Weather forecast for Jakarta

The rain warning is also in place for Jakarta areas. People in South Jakarta are asked to be aware of possible thunderstorms this afternoon.

Light rain is expected in South and East Jakarta in the afternoon and evening. In the morning, all areas of the capital will be partly cloudy, except for Thousands Island, which will be cloudy.

The BMKG also forecasted that rain will shower some areas of Jakarta early Friday.
