Indonesia, Lithuania Explore Digital Infrastructure Cooperation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, and the Foreign Minister of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met on Monday, October 30 at the ministry office. The meeting discussed cooperation potential, especially on digital infrastructures.

Minister Airlangga stated that his ministry is willing to cooperate with Lithuania on data and cyber security. "The Indonesian government wants to cooperate on data protection and copyright. Additionally, one of Indonesia's focuses is to create a zero-blank spot on every island in the country. Therefore, we want to invite Lithuania to collaborate on digital infrastructure development," he said in a written statement on Monday.

Landsbergis also expressed Lithuania's interest to cooperate on dairy products. Concerning this matter, Lithuanian dairy companies are willing to abide by Indonesian regulations.

Meanwhile, Airlangga expressed his hope that Lithuania could support Indonesia in its quest for OECD membership. In response, Landsbergis said that Lithuania is ready to support Indonesia. "We are willing to help conduct training, sending experts, and forming consultation groups with Indonesia," he said.

During the meeting, Airlangga and Landsbergis discussed the acceleration of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Partnership Agreement (IEU CEPA) negotiation process. It is believed that the IEU CEPA will boost economic relations between Indonesia and the EU.

The cooperation plan between the Lithuanian Industrialists Association the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and the Industry (KADIN) was also discussed during the bilateral meeting as potential to boost future economic relationships.
