TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The city government of Kuala Kangsar in Malaysia is using Taman Pintar (Smart Park) in Yogyakarta as a reference for their upcoming edu tourism development. Vice Mayor of Kuala Kangsar Azizul Rahim Bin Abdul Rahman visited Taman Pintar on Monday, October 16, 2023.

Kuala Kangsar is the royal town of Perak, Malaysia. The city is well known for several of its tourist destinations such as the Iskandariah Palace, Ubudiah Mosque, Kuning Palace, and Perak River Safari.

"We are interested in the various attractions offered in Taman Pintar," he said. Azizul also mentioned that the park is a strategic edu-tourism site.

"We want to implement the concept of Taman Pintar in Malaysia too, with these kinds of attraction, we can improve children's awareness and care toward technological development," Azizul said.

The Assistant of Government and Public Welfare Yunianti Dwi Sutono stated that Taman Pintar has around 10 attractions. These attractions are the waste management zone, water attractions, science theater, playground, library zone, crafts village, playgrounds, planetarium, square building, and oval building. These attractions are wrapped in modern packaging, making children interested to visit.

"Taman Pintar was designed to offer an educational model with a mixture of education and game concepts," Yunianto said. "The various props we own are made as interesting as possible to stimulate children's curiosity and creativity."

Head of the Yogyakarta Cultural Office Yetti Martanti reported that Taman Pintar received around 3,000 visitors each day. The number is estimated to increase during the school holiday season. "The visitors could reach 5,000 to 6,000 people each day during the school holiday season," Yetti said.
