TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday announced that Supreme Court (MA) secretary Hasbi Hasan and his intermediary Dadan Tri Yudianto received Rp11.2 billion in kickbacks for a plethora of legal cases the institution had handled in the past.

“In links to the cases handled by the Supreme Court, whether that is cassation cases or judicial reviews, Heryanto Tanaka wired money gradually to Dadan with a total of Rp11.2 billion,” said KPK deputy Nurul Ghufron in the press conference held at the anti-graft institution’s headquarters on June 6.

The two main suspects are incriminated in a past case that involved corruption acted out by two Supreme Court judges; Gazalba Saleh and Sudrajad Dimyati.

The two judges along with dozens of employees is believed to be recipients of graft from Koperasi Simpan Pinjam Intidana debtor Heryanto Tanaka and other people. Hasbi and Hasan’s names emerged in a follow up investigation.

Ghufron said that the case began when Hasbi Hasan was appointed Secretary of the Supreme Court on December 20, 2020. Heryanto Tanaka, as the KSP Intidana debtor, contacted Dadan several times to discuss the case he was presenting to the Supreme Court. The case was handled by his lawyer, Theodorus Yosep Parera. Heryanto allegedly asked Dadan for help in dealing with the case.

A meeting then ensued between the suspects that asked to meddle with the legal proceedings of a case incriminating Heryanto. The money is believed to be wired to the Supreme Court secretary in March of 2022. Dadan has officially been under KPK detention on June 6 this year while no arrests have been made against Hasbi Hasan.
