TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released a weather forecast for today, May 30, 2023. Rain showers are predicted to wet several areas of Jakarta from the afternoon until night. The rain likely be accompanied by lightning and strong winds.

The agency reported that the weather in West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta in the morning will be partly sunny, while Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands will have cloudy skies.

The air temperature in the capital is estimated to be around 27-31 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level reaching 70-95 percent.

The agency also warned of high waves that have the potential to occur in several Indonesian waters on May 30-31 2023, including in the southern part of Sunda Strait, the western part of the Java Sea, the central part of the Java Sea, and the eastern part of the Java Sea.

The wind pattern, according to the agency, is one of the causes of the possible increase in high waves. The BMKG noted that the wind pattern in the northern part of Indonesia generally moves from the southwest with speeds ranging from 4-20 knots, while in the southern part of Indonesia moves from east-southeast with speeds of 4-25 knots.
